The series of compact liquid ring pumps Busch Dolphin LX is designed for pumping vapor-air mixtures from closed containers. Traditionally, water is used as the working liquid in these pumps, although other service liquids may also be used.
The main factor when servicing these types of pumps is the tightness of connections and joints. This directly affects the pump efficiency, its service life, and the maximum achievable performance. As for the mechanical seal, one of the main reasons for its failure in vacuum liquid ring pumps is dry running (for example, when the liquid supply tube becomes clogged with deposits, the automatic water supply valve does not operate, etc.).
An important factor is the quality of the working liquid. It is advisable to use treated water or at least change it periodically, since all contaminants remain in it. Accordingly, the mineral components of the liquid accumulate as sediment, which leads to wear of friction pairs and corrosion of the seal. Hard water deposits can also clog the internal cavities of the pump. It is also necessary to control the liquid temperature (18–20 °C, preferably not higher).
The seal used is BUSCH LX0140 433.0B/045- R-MG12.
