Lobe pump can handle products with solid particles (e.g. cherries and olives), slurries, pastes and a wide variety of liquids. Smooth pumping minimises product damage. They provide a continuous flow of product and can also be operated in dosing mode using a stepper motor or frequency converter. A special feature of this type of pump is the ability to operate in reverse mode and to run in dry mode for short periods of time. Flow is relatively independent of changes in process pressure, so performance is relatively constant and continuous. They are popular in various industries because they have excellent sanitary qualities, high efficiency, reliability, corrosion resistance and are easy to clean (CIP/SIP). They are used in the chemical industry, pulp and paper industry, food industry, petrochemical industry, beverage industry, and biotechnology. Lobe pump is a type of positive displacement pump. It is similar to a gear pump, except that the blades are designed in such a way that they almost touch rather than touch and rotate relative to each other. The contact of the blades is prevented by external gears located in the gearbox. The pump shaft support bearings are located in the gearbox, and since the bearings are outside the pumped liquid, the pressure is limited by the bearing arrangement and shaft deflection, which reduces the noise level of this pump.
