Pumps for extreme temperatures from -196°C to +400°C
Pumps for extreme temperatures are the conditional name of pumps that work with heated liquids. The maximum temperature that the pump can withstand is specified by the manufacturer in its technical specifications. Usually, it reaches 400 degrees Celsius. Most often, such pumps are used for industrial purposes to pump hot liquids, oils or ensure normal circulation of the system. The main criterion for the quality of high-temperature pumps is the competent selection of materials that can withstand such temperatures without deformations. It is important that the equipment works stably and is able to maintain functionality when interacting with hot liquids.
Types of pumps for extreme temperatures
Usually, centrifugal and gear-type systems are used to work in such conditions. Further, the classification of pumps provides for the following types:
- Extreme temperature pumps with mechanical seal
These are devices that work with liquids with temperatures up to 200 degrees. Such an environment is considered acceptable for the operation of conventional gear and centrifugal pumps. As an addition, the devices have a special seal that can increase the thermal endurance indicators.
- Centrifugal pumps for extreme temperatures
They are used for working with liquids up to 340 degrees. In such conditions, the seals will no longer help to withstand the thermal load, so the structure of the device is subject to changes. The package includes a longer shaft of the device, as well as a pronounced ribbed part of the body. The ribbing allows you to reduce the temperature during operation on the back of the case, as well as protect the mechanical seal from overheating.
- Gear pumps for extreme temperatures
They are used for working with liquids with temperatures up to 250 degrees. These pumps do not have the characteristic elongated shaft, as the system design is different. In order to control overheating, special handkerchiefs soaked in Graphite are mounted on the pump.
- Centrifugal pumps for extreme temperatures with centrifugal coupling
They are used for working with liquids up to 400 degrees and even more. To create a coupling, powerful magnets are used, which are placed in a special non-magnetic block. The temperature of the device is kept within acceptable limits due to the optional bushing installed.
Areas of application of pumps for extreme temperatures
Pumps for heated liquids are mainly used in production. This is due to the fact that according to the technology, some liquids must be in a hot state. Most often, such pumps can be found in the chemical industry, metallurgy, varnish and paint industries, or pharmaceuticals. Not infrequently, pumps for extreme temperatures are used to transport fuel oil, oils and other liquids that need to be stored in a hot form.
