All Mody submersible drainage pumps are equipped with a tandem mechanical seal system, where two seals are installed sequentially within an oil chamber. This design prevents pressure differences across the sealing faces at various pump installation depths or under different discharge pressures.
This type of arrangement also significantly extends the service life of the mechanical seals.
Materials of the mechanical seals used in these pumps:
- 535-038-00 VG-462326 VLFLF – silicon carbide versus silicon carbide sealing faces (lower seal) and silicon carbide versus silicon carbide sealing faces (upper seal), HNBR elastomer secondary seals, and 316SS stainless steel metal components.
- 535-022-00 VG-462325 BZFZF – tungsten carbide versus tungsten carbide sealing faces (lower seal) and tungsten carbide versus tungsten carbide sealing faces (upper seal), HNBR elastomer secondary seals, and 316SS stainless steel metal components.
The type of mechanical seal used in these pumps (according to the U.S. SEAL MFG designation) is Type D, with a Type 1 stationary seat design. Key features of this seal design include a self-adjusting elastomer bellows, a robust spring resistant to corrosion and clogging, and special locking grooves. Pressure rating up to 350 PSI. Temperature range: from -40 °F to +425 °F.
